Emily completed her specialist training in the Merseyside region. She has clinical interests in respiratory intervention in lung cancer, integrated care and respiratory physiology and airways disease within sports medicine.

She sees individuals with a range of respiratory problems – cough, Asthma, COPD, breathlessness and bronchiectasis.

She performs diagnostic bronchoscopy and more specialised respiratory intervention in the NHS and Private setting.  

With regards to respiratory sports physiology, she works closely with Exercise Respiratory Physiologists in assessing respiratory function in athletes and high-performance sports people.  She is able to provide a wide variety of specialist diagnostic tests, specialist assessment and advise on optimal treatments.

After training posts in General Medicine, Dilip further specialised in Respiratory and General Medicine as a Registrar in Merseyside.

In addition to his routine clinical training, he spent 2 years as a Clinical and Research Fellow at the prestigious Adult CF Unit at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, which is among the largest CF units in the country.  During this time, he carried out research into Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes, and completed my MD thesis through the University of Liverpool.

Following completion of his training, he worked as a Consultant in CF, Respiratory and General medicine at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust, one of the largest NHS Trusts in the South-West of England, prior to relocating back to Merseyside.

His NHS Practice is as a Respiratory Consultant at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, and I am an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Institute of Infection and Global Health at the University of Liverpool and part of the Liverpool Centre of Cardiovascular Science (LCCS), collaborating across the full spectrum of cardiovascular and respiratory health.

He has completed several respiratory research studies leading to substantial publications and changes in clinical practice and has published several articles in the areas of CF and non-CF bronchiectasis. These publications have been published in a wide variety of high-quality peer review journals.

Mrs Ilona Littler

Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist

Ilona started her physiotherapy career after finishing a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy in 2009 in Poland, before moving to the United Kingdom. She has extensive experience working with individuals within acute settings such as the critical care unit, acute respiratory wards, surgical wards, head and neck care, where she worked closely with oncology teams.

In addition to inpatient services, she has also worked within outpatient clinics to support those with various respiratory conditions including but not limited to Bronchiectasis, COPD, Asthma, PCD and breathing pattern disorders. She has led on delivering care for patients with respiratory conditions during pandemic and adapted services in response to COVID-19 in the form of virtual clinics.

She currently works within a busy multi-disciplinary team at a specialist NHS respiratory hospital (Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital).

At her clinics she works closely with the Respiratory Consultants and respiratory Physiologists and provide individuals from the North West of England, North Wales and the Isle of Man services such as:

  • Physiotherapy based assessment of those who have a long-term underlying problem with breathing or a newly diagnosed condition e.g. COPD, emphysema, bronchiectasis, asthma, chronic bronchitis or pulmonary fibrosis

Dr Alexandra Boughey

Clinical Psychologist

Alexandra’s career in psychology started back in 2015 working across multiple NHS organisations and a wide range of physical health conditions. Alexandra has a BSc in Psychology, MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She has an extensive background and expertise in adult mental health difficulties including working with individuals who have a physical health diagnosis. She has worked across many different physical health services such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis, cardiology, respiratory, renal and prosthetic & wheelchair. 

She currently works within a multi-disciplinary team at a specialist NHS respiratory hospital (Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital). Where she works closely with respiratory consultants and wider MDT to provide therapy for those struggling with long-term respiratory conditions.

She specialises in psychological assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties such as anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem, stress, psychological aspects of physical illness, weight management and eating disorders.

Alexandra can offer cognitive behavioural therapy in line with NICE guidance and is also interested in the 'third' wave therapies such as mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and compassion focused therapy (CFT), along with relational therapist and trauma-based approaches. This enables her to draw from a number of difference influences in order to adopt an integrative approach to her work where appropriate.

Ms Abbie O'Brien

Abbie has worked within the NHS and private sector for 12 years. During this time, she has undertaken roles that are clinical and non-clinical.
 
Abbie has worked with a lot of different specialities such as Respiratory, Rheumatology, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, ENT, General Paediatrics, Anaesthetics, Plastic Surgery, General Medicine, Gastroenterology, Urology, Dermatology and a lot more in a clinical setting. 
 
She continues to work for both the NHS and private sector due to her love of helping people and playing an important role between patient and consultant contact. Her goal is to create a well established relationship between herself and patients, where they know they are getting the best standard of care and can always rely on Abbie for their respiratory needs.
 
She has a close working relationship with the team, making our communication to one another fast and efficient. 
 
Abbie offers a telephone, text and email service for those who would prefer to communicate in a way they feel most comfortable with.
